Fancy scooty number "HP-99-9999" gets bid of over 1.12 Crores in Himachal

A resident in Himachal Pradesh has bid Rs 1.12 crore to get a unique number for his scooty, making it the highest-ever price for a two-wheeler number in the history of the state. The government had initially fixed the price for the number at Rs 1,000. 26 participants had bid for the number - HP-99-999, and the highest bid received online was of Rs 1,12,15,500. The sale of scooties has gone up by 30-40% in hilly areas like Shimla, as compared to the post-Covid period.

While some people are willing to spend more money to buy comfortable and fuel-efficient vehicles, others may be interested in obtaining unique and fancy number plates for their vehicles. In this case, the resident bid an exorbitant amount of money to get a unique number for his scooty. The bid has set a new record in the state's history for the highest-ever price paid for a two-wheeler number.

The sale of scooties has gone up in hilly areas like Shimla, with a 30-40% increase compared to the post-Covid period. This could be due to people preferring personal vehicles for transportation in the pandemic era. However, the cost of scooties ranges between Rs 70,000 to Rs 1,80,000, making the bid of Rs 1.12 crore an exorbitant amount to pay for a unique number.

The transport department officials stated that 26 participants bid for the number, indicating that there may be a demand for unique and fancy number plates in the region.
